Grooming Conventions
We take pride in our careers. It is mandatory for all of our groomers to attend conventions at least one a year.
We usually provide dogs for the one here in town. Your pet may be a candidate for the next one.

This is my dog "HiWay". He is a border collie mix breed. He was hit by a car and had heartworms when he was rescued years ago. He comes to work with me and loves being around the people and the other dogs.

The history of our salon
Hello,
I am Cheryl Wyrick, the owner and manager of Pampered
Paws Grooming Inc. In my youth I wanted to be a veterinarian,
as many children do, unfortunately, that didn't happen. I worked
at an animal hospital at the age of sixteen. Even then I felt a
strong desire to care for pets.
As an adult, I worked at the Humane Society of Greater KC
with the neglected and homeless pets. After seven years there,
I needed to get away from the abuse. I wanted to care for
healthy, pampered pets.
In 1989, I became a dog and cat groomer with a Vet here in
Waldo. In 1998 our grooming staff was getting large enough to
branch off into my own business so "Pampered Paws
Grooming" was created. I named it after my old dog "PAWS" a
hound mix that I raised with my daughter.* See photo below.
In 2003 we moved into our space here. Going from 500 sq.ft. to
2200 sq.ft. was like heaven. Our business has changed
dramatically over the years. Clients use to have to schedule
weeks ahead in order to get an appt. Now, with a larger staff
and more space, often we can get you in the same day. We
have a wonderful loving, caring, patient team to care for your
pets. We take pride in our work and continue our education
every year at conventions.
As a team, Pam Carlson, ( a local groomer and a dear friend of
mine) and I teach cat grooming classes at seminars. Most
groomers are under trained in this area. Both of us have been
grooming cats our entire careers. We have lots of fun and enjoy
being able to educate other groomers.
I hope this helps you understand the history of our little
business. It continues to grow because of you, our wonderful
clients. You give us the honor of taking care of your cherished
family pets.
